Literary route

Only a few cities can boast of being a source of inspiration for some of the most brilliant writers who have been in Blanes with their own notebooks and pens. But like the writer Montserrat Roig said ‘Blanes is a city full of history and literature’. Moreover, people in Blanes can be proud of having seen such number of writers and artists. Among some of the most famous writers, we can mention Josep Maria de Sagarra, Joan Maragall, Roberto Bolaño, Ferran Agulló or those born in Blanes, such as Joaquim Ruyra, Vicenç Coma Soley, Josep Cortils i Vieta, Josep Alemany Borràs, Joan Ribas Carreras or Pere Puig i Llensa. We can also mention some artists, such as Lluïsa Vidal, Àngel Planells, Maria Teresa Bedós or Joan Roig i Soler, who was the father of Emerencià and Josep Roig i Raventós.
Blanes usually appears as the background of many stories. What is more, the city has hosted important literary circles, such as the Floral Games. In 1920, a magazine called Recull was published for the first time, becoming one of the most important in catalan. In this route, we suggest a walk around the city along with the writers who have been living here, stopping in some of the most emblematic areas that have been mentioned in their stories.
