Flower carpets by Corpus Christi

The celebration of the Corpus in Blanes is a unique festivity, traditional and expected by many local residents. It consists of decorating the streets of the historic center with carpets made with flowers with Blandenian representations like the shield, the Mediterranean gardens, maritime landscapes that define Blanes perfectly…

This celebration is held annually on the Sunday after Corpus Christi Thursday. This year coincides with the day of the festival of San Juan, an ideal day to enjoy Blanes during the day and night.

The tradition of floral carpets by Corpus goes back many years, but for more than 40 took a strong impulse to make this event what it is today: a visual and aromatic show. It takes place in the streets of Barrio del Raval, the closest to the church of Santa María.

The neighbors of this neighborhood area are the ones who are in charge of preparing the floral carpets with different elements such as earth, bark, leaves and flowers, previously designed and drawn on the ground by local artists.

As it is a religious act, at night there is a procession that starts from the church, accompanied by a musical band.

Visiting Blanes this day is a unique opportunity to enjoy an environment of collaboration, brotherhood and above all to enjoy making such a soft tradition, while strolling through the streets of the city center on such a special date.
