American legacy in Blanes

Having made more or less fortune, the Indians who returned from America to Blanes contributed to develop their own architecture that nowadays is still visible in some neighborhoods. Although the tourist boom of half a century ago destroyed some of them, this route will enable you to discover over a dozen amazing houses that belonged to the enriched people of the 19th century thanks to the business with Havana. Mots of people of Blanes went to Cuba. They also went to Puerto Rico, Argentine, Uruguay and Venezuela. They usually went there because their parents and friends gave them a job and as a way of integrating into the new society.
The American heritage of Blanes can be seen in the houses still standing, in the buildings and in the descendant and Municipal Archive’s documents.
